Capo Girls Softball Fall Ball is comprised of two separate programs – Fall Recreational and Fall Select (aka “Federation” 10U, 12U & 14U only). Both programs involve playing teams from other leagues, but each offers a different level of competition and commitment from the girls.
FALL RECREATIONAL (Rec):
Fall Ball Rec Program is for any 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U player. Fall Ball Rec is still a competitive league but focuses more on player development, with a weekly time commitment. This is a great program to begin your softball career or to get prepared for the upcoming spring 2016 season. New players are welcome!
As 6U Fall Ball is a new program, we are currently only developing an interest list and not having a formal registration or collecting fees at this time. If we generate enough interest to form an adequate number of teams, you will be asked to complete registration at the 6U Final Registration Day sometime in August.
Rec Program Practices
Once per week; begin mid to late August.
One game every Sunday, with the possibility of the occasional, additional weekday game, and travel to other, nearby cities; games run September through November
End of season playoff tournament - TBD
Teams compete with other local leagues such as Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, and San Clemente. The league is competitive, but still offers girls with other time commitments the ability to participate.
Age and Team Formation
Fall Ball Rec players typically play at the division they will be playing NEXT SPRING season. Any player moving up a division in the spring is encouraged to play in that division during the fall. Teams are formed by a draft of players. Participation in the past Spring Season of CGS is not required. Initially, when registering, all players are considered Rec until such time that they are selected to one of the Fall Select teams.
$160.00 per player. Fee includes uniforms, tournament and umpire fees.
FALL SELECT (Federation League):
Fall Ball Select is for 10U, 12U & 14U players that played in Spring prior to the fall season. Select players play at the age level that they just finished playing in the spring season in the Federation league.
All 14U players play at the Select level. 10U and 12U Federation teams may be formed if there are adequate numbers of players to form both a rec team and a select team and qualified coaches for both. It is highly competitive with a greater time commitment required. Once registration closes, the board will determine the number of Select teams that will be formed.
Once or twice per week; begin mid August.
2 games (double-header) every Saturday or Sunday. Games can be played at any of the Federation league members’ locations in Orange County; games run September through November.
There are three (3) tournaments. The first tournament opens the season in September (TBD). The second tournament is in October (TBD) and the last tournament is in November (TBD).
Teams compete with other local leagues such as Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, San Clemente, and others. The league is competitive, but still offers girls with other time commitments the ability to participate.
Once the managers are chosen by the CGS board, they will “select” their team from the pool of players of qualified registrants. The CGS Board will approve the selected teams before Select team practices begin. Due to the limited number of teams, not all girls will be “selected.” If a girl isnot selected for the Fed team, they will be placed on a recreational team.
Fees (approximate fees)
All players will play the rec team fee of $160 at registration. Once Fed teams are selected, the coach will collect the remaining $100.
